Carvajal discussed the team’s spectacular performance after the Whites picked up their eighth win of the season in the Santiago Bernabeú against Real Sociedad: “The team played a great game and it’s reflected in the result. Especially in the first half, which was really solid for the whole team. With this win we’re going into the break relaxed. We keep getting better, we’re discovering the concepts and our idea of the game and we’re improving every day”, he said. The defender also had words of praise for teammate Cristiano Ronaldo: “He gives his all in every match; I see it in every training session. He’s proving that he’s the best player in the world for me and for a lot of people”.
Carvajal was also asked about the Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo trio up front: “They make us suffer in the training sessions. The truth is that it’s not easy when you see them in front of you and they attack. We’re lucky to have them on our team”. When asked about what he thinks the Portuguese striker has to do to win the Ballon d’Or, Carvajal replied: “Ronaldo improves every day for himself and for Real Madrid. The decision of who wins the Ballon d’Or isn’t mine or my teammates’ to make; it’s up to the committee. I’m thrilled to have Cristiano every Sunday with everything that he brings to the team”.

Benzema netted for his third consecutive La Liga match and Carvajal explained the forward’s importance on the squad: “He contributes many things. His shots didn’t go in before and now they do, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he takes the shots”. In the second half Ancelotti replaced Benzema with Morata, who had a huge opportunity to increase the Whites’ lead: “Álvaro is young and it makes him angry to have that chance and to miss. He’s a great player and I’m sure he won’t miss the next time”.

Alonso played his fourth game after his injury and Carvajal confirmed that the midfielder “is feeling better every game. It’s normal that he has to find the right rhythm after such a long injury, but he brings a lot to the team”. To conclude, Carvajal discussed his teammate Varane: “He has a minor knee injury. He’s a really good player that contributes a lot and he’s a sure thing in the back”.
